About us

Built for the desk that already does the work.

What verso is, where it came from, and who is building it.

What is verso?

verso is submission-to-COI automation for E&S agencies. It runs the submission workflow that normally fills a service rep's whole day: the moment a new risk lands in the inbox, through the ACORD package, out to the markets, and down to binding and the certificate.

It is not an agency management system, and it does not replace your AMS. It works alongside the tools you already use and takes over the manual submission work, so a small team can handle more volume without the next hire.

Where it came from

It came from watching the work happen by hand for too long. Alex spent years running an E&S desk, and the shape of the problem never changed: the same risk gets typed four times, the package sits waiting on whoever has a free afternoon, and the follow-up only happens if someone remembers to do it. None of that is underwriting. All of it is hours.

Diego builds software, and kept hearing the same description of the same problem from people in insurance, with nobody solving it the way it actually needed solving. So the two of them built it inside a real agency rather than around one.

Why it works this way

Every decision starts with the same question: does this remove the work, or does it just make the work look different? Only the first kind ships.

That is why verso lives in the inbox instead of asking you to log in somewhere new, and why it stops at every gate and waits. It drafts, you approve. Nothing reaches a market without you. The point is not a system that decides for you. It is a desk that has already done the typing by the time you look at it.

Where it runs today

verso runs the submission desk at Black Shore Insurance Group, a Florida E&S wholesale agency, every day on real deals. Black Shore is where it was built and proven. It is also Alex's agency, so we describe it as the founding agency rather than as an independent customer, because that is what it is.

Who's behind it

Two founders. One of them has run this desk.

Alex Mazzei, CPCU

Co-founder · insurance

Alex spent years inside the desk. He knows where the time actually goes on a submission. verso reflects how the work happens, not how a tech demo says it does.

Diego Figueroa

Co-founder · builder

Diego is a software engineer. He builds the product because the people he knew in insurance kept describing the same problem, and nobody was solving it the way it actually needed to be solved.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

verso parses the email and its attachments directly. It confirms the submission is real, extracts every field off the dec page and ACORDs, and flags whatever is missing before anything moves.

Yes. verso is email-native, so submissions flow in the way they already arrive. It works alongside your AMS and the rest of your desk rather than replacing them, and every document it produces files back to the client record without rekeying.

Always. verso stops at every gate and waits for your go. It assembles and proposes; you approve. Nothing is sent to a market without you.

Yes. A renewal runs through the same pipeline as new business, with one difference: the client file already holds last year's data. verso assembles the fresh ACORDs underwriters ask for from what is on file, you confirm the numbers that changed, and nothing is re-entered from scratch.

It builds itself. Every document, email, and approval on a submission files to one permanent client record as the work happens. That record is what your E&O carrier wants to see, and it is what makes next year's renewal a confirmation instead of a rebuild.

verso handles common E&S commercial and personal lines end to end, from intake through to issuing the COI. New lines are added as the product expands.
